How to Create a Simple Content Plan

Introduction

The first thing that top reputation management companies do when they start with a new client is come up with a content plan that is equally beneficial. This means that you are going to get the content that you want and need, and they are going to get the information to better serve you. There are many steps to a great content plan, so let’s not muck about and get straight into it.

The Plan

Before you start any job, you have to have a plan of attack. You may think that you just make breakfast, lunch, or dinner but in truth, you had a plan. You may not have thought about it as it is second nature to you, but you did, in fact, formulate a plan. The same is true when you are dealing with content. You have to know what you want for your customers to see and when. Without this, you are going to have a bunch of posts that make little to no sense. To start off with, you are going to want to make sure that you have a way to get information from your client. This is generally accomplished through the use of a landing page or call to action. You will provide them with a token (likely intangible item) in return for their contact information. This can be address, e-mail, or phone number. Any information you can get from them will be beneficial to you. So, make sure that you do some A/B testing to see what garners you the most information.

Inbound

Great inbound content is essential to growth. You want to get people to come to you so that you can start giving the star treatment. This can be accomplished in a few ways. We already told you about getting contact information, so we will move onto the other ways. Create short-form content. This will be given to them when they provide you with their contact information. Remember that intangible item we talked about? This is it. It does not have to be a long article or information, just enough that they will want to provide you with their information so that you can continue to woo them. The next step is to drive them down the funnel. What starts off as a visit, progresses to leads. These are the people that you need to focus on. You want leads so that you can offer them opportunities to make purchases from you.

Persona

A step that simply cannot be skipped is coming up with a persona. This is the person that you want coming to your business. You need to think of all the possible things that they can be. Consider age, race, geographical location, what kind of car they drive, and so on. This is what you are going to use to market to them specifically.

Conclusion

Top reputation management companies do this with every single client. If you are going to try to do this alone, then you need to make sure that you do all of the above steps. If you skip any, you will be missing out on some revenue that will help your business grown.
